Narrative:Republic F-84C-6-RE Thunderjet 47-1481,128th FS, 104th FG,Kansas ANG (Air National Guard), USAF: Written off (damaged beyond repair) September 27 1951 when crashed on approach to Matagorda Island AFB, Matagorda Island, northeast of Corpus Christi, Texas. Pilot 2nd Lt Robert H Schorb, USAF was killed. Accident reported as "Pilot Killed in a Landing Accident due to Engine Failure"
Matagorda Island Air Force Base is a closed military airfield on the north end of Matagorda Island, northeast of Corpus Christi, Texas. It was closed by the United States Air Force in 1975.
