The helicopter was forced on Tuesday 21 February 2012 to make a precautionary landing in a field at Tattingstone, near Wherstead, 3 miles S of Ipswich, Suffolk, after they clipped some power lines. More than 300 homes and businesses in Suffolk and north Essex lost electricity supplies after the incident. UK Power Networks said most were restored by midnight.
Neither of the two crew members were injured.An MoD spokesman said: "We can confirm that an Apache made a controlled precautionary landing in a field near Ipswich after a wire strike at approximately 22:20 GMT on Tuesday. Both crew were uninjured. Captain Wales (the name HRH Prince Harry uses) was not aboard."
A spokesman for 16 Air Assault Brigade said: “The Apache has sustained minor internal damage and will be moved to Wattisham, by road, on Friday.”
