Narrative:
On 5 Nov 57, during night trials over the Solent near Calshot, Hampshire the pilot became disorientated, when the landing light beam lifted off the surface of the water as he was checking speed and descent rate. XG582 struck the water and sank, but the two crew escaped with injuries. It was salvaged and sold for scrap.

**Note: According to one source - said to be from the logbook of the pilot of XG582 - the crash took place on 2 Dec 57 not 5 Nov 57
