Narrative:On final approach the pilot lost control of the aircraft as the result of an engine's explosion. Aircraft came down in a field few miles from the runway threshold. Quickly on the spot, rescue teams were able to evacuate eight occupants seriously injured, while eleven others were found dead.
According to the Royal Air Force an engine exploded on approach and broke off, putting the aircraft in a situation that the pilot was unable to control.
The pilot F/O K.C.R Maskell (114382) & Brigadiers G.M Stewart &V.Dykes were among those killed
