Narrative:
de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth MSN 82391 (Gipsy Major #82129); Taken on charge by the RAF as N9310 at 20 MU RAF Aston Down, Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire 7.10.39. To 4 EFTS RAF Brough, East Yorkshire 24.9.40. To 9 MU RAF Cosford, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire 8.8.45. To 19 RFS RAF Hooton Park, Wirral, Cheshire 13.7.50. To 10 MU RAF Hullavington, Chippenham, Wiltshire 4.5.51. To 2 Grading Unit, RAF Kirton-in-Lindsey, Lincolnshire 11.8.52. Ferried to 33 MU RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire 9.3.53 for storage pending disposal.

Sold 2.9.53 to Transair Ltd. UK civil Registered as G-ANPN (C of R R4535/1) 20.4.54 to John Frank Morgan, Whitkirk, Leeds, West Yorkshire (aircraft based at Sherburn-in-Elmet). Registered owner's address changed to Sherburn-in-Elmet, aircraft regsitration card notes "amended 24.5.56". Overhauled at Thruxton Aerodrome, Andover, Hampshire and C of A issued 17.5.54. UK Registration G-ANPN cancelled 6.6.56 as 'sold in Germany - D-ECUP'.

Re-registered in West Germany as D-ECUP [allotted 8.55 & ferry permit issued 31.5.56] 18.6.56 to Luftsportverein Oldenburg, Oldenburg. Badly damaged taxying Varelbusch Airport, Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony, West Germany 3.3.57; repaired and returned to service.

Written off (damaged beyond repair) when crashed on take-off Varelbusch Airport, Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony, West Germany 28.5.58; one of the two persons on board was killed. Registration D-ECUP cancelled 11.6.58.

Varrelbusch Airport (IATA: VAC, ICAO: EDWU) is a regional airport at Cloppenburg, Lower Saxony, West Germany, at approximate coordiantes 52°54′30″N, 8°2′35″E. It supports general aviation with no commercial airline service scheduled. During World War II, the airport was used by the British Royal Air Force as ALG (Advanced Landing Ground) B-113 Varrelbusch Airport.
