Narrative:
de Havilland DH.82A Tiger Moth MSN 83036 (Gipsy Major #82863); Taken on charge as R5174 at 38 MU RAF Llandow, Glamorgan 13.4.40. To 9 EFTS RAF Ansty, Coventry 17.11.40. To 22 EFTS RAF Teversham, Cambridge 15.4.44, coded "5". To 33 MU RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire 30.9.46. To 22 Group Comm Flight, RAF Ternhill, Market Drayton, Shropshire 26.9.51. To 9 MU RAF Cosford, Wolveerhampton, Staffordshire 5.1.54 for storage pending disposal.

Struck off charge as Cat.5(c) and sold as parts 13.7.54 to Hants & Sussex Aviation Ltd, Portsmouth Airport, Portsmouth, Hampshire. However, repaired/rebuilt and UK civil registered as G-ANRI (C of R R4573) 4.6.54 to Nigel Desmond Norman, Rookwoods Farm, Oakridge, Gloucester (aircraft based at Bembridge, Isle of Wight). C of A issued 31.10.55. UK Registration cancelled 1.11.55 as 'sold to Germany - D-EGAL'

Delivered 19.11.55. Registered in West Germany as D-EGAL [allotted 22.9.55; ferry permit issued 17.11.55] 12.12.55 to Luftsportclub Euskirchen, Cologne-Butzweilerhof.

Written off (destroyed) when crashed into HT wires at Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde, near Altena, North Rhine-Westphalia, West Germany 22.6.56 whilst taking part in the Deutschlandflug Rallye [as race number K5]; Flew into powerlines in fog and fell to the ground. One of the two persons on board was injured. Registration D-EGAL cancelled 5.7.56 as "destroyed".

The reported crash location of Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde is a municipality in the Märkischer Kreis, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, at approximate coordinates 51°19′0″N, 7°39′0″E. The municipality is split into two main settlements. Nachrodt is located in the valley of the river Lenne at an altitude of 140 m above sea level, while Wiblingwerde is located at an altitude of 480 m on the hills of the Lennegebirge, one of the hill chains in the Sauerland mountains.
