Narrative:
Gloster Meteor NF.11 WD713, 228 OCU, RAF Leeming: delivered 18/3/1952. Written off 30/3/1953, in a take off accident at RAF Leeming, North Yorkshire.

While taking off from RAF Leeming, a violent yaw to port occurred, and the pilot applied opposite rudder to correct this. The Meteor then took off. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot realised that the violent yaw on take off had been caused by a burst tyre. In response, the pilot circled RAF Leeming in order to burn off fuel, before making a wheels-up "belly landing" back at RAF Leeming.

Although the aircraft was wrecked ("damaged beyondeconomic repair") the two crew were uninjured.
