Narrative:
Handley Page Hampden Mk.I L4096 ("VN-P"), 50 Squadron, RAF Waddington: Written off (destroyed) 31/10/39 when lost height shortly after night take-off from RAF Waddington, and crashed at Branston, North Kesteven, Lincolnshire (four miles south east of Lincoln). All three crew killed:

Sgt Ralph Sunei Wallace Cordle (Service Number 565161, aged 25) killed
AC.1 Joseph Frank Burge (Service Number 612813, aged 18) killed
AC2 Leonard James Penteny (Service Number 624358, aged 18) killed

Sgt. Cordle is buried at YOXFORD CEMETERY, Suffolk; AC.1 Burge is buried at LIVERPOOL(ANFIELD) CEMETERY, Lancashire; AC.2 Penteny is buried in WADDINGTON (ST. MICHAEL) Churchyard, Lincolnshire
