Narrative:de Havilland Canada DHC-1 Chipmunk T.10 WK582: Delivered 28/3/1952. Operational Service career was with 25 RFS (Reserve Flying School) 16 RFS (coded "51"), and Leeds UAS (University Air Squadron)
Written off (destroyed) 12/4/1957: The aircraft took off from RAF Yeadon, West Yorkshire, to carry out aerobatic training (spins, stalls, and steep turns). Forty five minutes after take off Chipmunk WK582 was seen over the Harewood Estate, carrying out aerobatics. In one of these aerobatic manoeuvres the aircraft went into a spin, from which it did not recover. The Chipmunk dived into the ground and was destroyed, killing the pilot

Note that several published sources give the crash location in error as "Harwood". The crash location was half-a-mile from Harewood House, a country house in Harewood near Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, at approximate coordinates 53°53′48″N 1°31′42″W. "Harwood" is near Bolton, Lancashire, approximately 54 miles away!
