Narrative:Dragonfly c/n 7544: First civil registered as G-AESW (C of R 7617) on 3.2.37 to W A Rollason, Croydon. C of A 2815 issued 3.37. Re-registered (C of R 7617/2) on 12.7.39 to Nash Aircraft Sales & Hire, Croydon. Sold on 17.7.39 to Air Taxis Ltd, still based at Croydon. Re-registered (C of R 7617/3) on 24.7.39 to Air Taxis Ltd, Croydon.
Operated by Air Transport Auxiliary at RAF White Waltham, Maidenhead, Berkshire on outbreak of WWII (=on or about 4.9.39). Crashed at RAF Ringway, Cheshire 25.1.40, but was repaired. Registration G-AESW cancelled 10.5.40 as 'sold'. ("Change of Ownership of Aircraft"; in face requisitioned by the Secretary of State, Air Ministry). Impressed into military service as AV976 on 12.5.40 and to No. 110 (Anti-Aircraft Co-operation) Wing, RAF Ringway, Cheshire 13.5.40. Allotted to 7 AACU Castle Bromwich 16.5.40 but possibly not delivered. Used for spares at RAF Ringway, Cheshire, and Struck Off Charge 11.11.40.
