Impressed into military service on or soon after 4.9.39 (when all civilian flying was banned) and allocated to 6 CAACU, RAF Ringway (still marked as G-AESW) (6 AACU = 6 Civilian Anti Aircraft Co-operation Unit)

Crashed at RAF Ringway, Cheshire 25.1.40, but was repaired and impressed as AV976 on 10.5.40. However, its military life was short, as it was struck off charge and authorised to be reduced to scrap and spares on 11.11.40
