The winch cable broken at 70m hight during winch launch at Flugplatz Braunfels and the Schleicher ASK 13 crashed.
Both occupants were injured and the glider was damaged beyond repair.
Conclusions:
The aircraft accident was due to the fact that the rope broke at a low altitude and in this case, after the take-off interruption, no reversal curve and subsequent landing against the take-off direction was flown, but a shortened traffic pattern. The glider came too low on the 180 ° final approach curve and collided with a tree.
