The amateur-built aircraft Ciclon, registration EC-XPH, took off from Binissalem (LEIS), on the island of Mallorca, to perform a local flight with an occupant on board.
While flying over the area known as Cala Romantica, the aircraft had an engine stop and the pilot made an emergency landing on a rocky terrain and low scrubland, located between the aforementioned cove and the so-called Cala Varques.
The pilot was unharmed and left the aircraft under his own power.
The aircraft suffered significant damage.
The investigation has determined that the cause of the accident was an emergency landing, off the runway, in an unprepared field, due to an in-flight engine shutdown caused by fuel exhaustion.
