Following a loss of engine power, the aircraft, an experimental Donald Jacobs built RV-6A, opted for a forced landing to beach terrain rather than major roadway terrain at Melbourne Beach, Florida. The airplane came to rest inverted, sustaining substantial damage, and one of the two occupants received unspecified injuries. One occupant onboard the aircraft was not injured.
