Narrative:The tailwheel-equipped airplane veered to the right and exited the side of the runway into an alfalfa field during an attempted takeoff. The airplane subsequently went through the airport perimeter fence, nosed over, and came to rest inverted. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the lower fuselage and left wing. The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
Probable Cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during takeoff, which resulted in a runway excursion, contact with the airport perimeter fence, and subsequent nose over.
