Narrative:
Consolidated B-24L-15-FO Liberator: Ex-USAAF 44-49833 [MSN 4688] built by the Ford Motor Co. To RAF April 1945 as Liberator C.VI KL681, and issued to 86 Squadron. On 10-6-45, 86 Squadron joined Transport Command's No. 301 Wing, flying missions to India. Finally, on 25-4-46, the Squadron was disbanded.

Written off (damaged beyond repair) 28-1-46: The pilot undershot the landing at RAF Oakington, Cambridgeshire, in gusty wind conditions and struck ATC (Air Traffic Control) van. The undercarriage leg snapped off, and the aircraft came to a halt on the grass beside the runway. None of the fifteen persons on board were injured.
