Narrative:
Royal Navy, 885 Squadron, Seafire NF533 operating out of RNAS Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire, England was shot down on the 6th June 1944 while operating over the Normandy beaches, on day one of the allied invasion of France ("Operation Neptune").
The aircraft crashed south of Hermanville-sur-Mer, Normandy France killing Pilot, Sub Lt, Cdr, A H Bassett.
