Impressed into RAAF service as A17-687 19.8.40 by 4 EFTS Mascot. To DeHavilland Australia at Mascot, Sydney, NSW 21.10.40 for reconditioning & modifications; to 2 AD Richmond 3.2.41. To 11 EFTS Benalla 25.7.41. To 9 EFTS Cunderdin 28.1.42. Crashed Cunderdin 8.7.43; to MMA Maylands 8.11.43 for repairs. Returned to 9 EFTS 3.4.44 after repairs complete. To 4 SFTS Geraldton 2.10.44. Written off (damaged beyond repair) when crashed into over head HT wires when crop-spraying near Cressy Airfield, Cressy, Victoria 2.12.59. Cressy is a town in Victoria, Australia, approximately 38 kilometres north of Colac on the Ballarat road. It is divided between Golden Plains Shire, the Shire of Colac Otway, and Corangamite Shire.
After the outbreak of World War II, an airfield was constructed south of the town towards Colac, and was used by the RAAF until 1946 as a combat training base and for bombing practice. Cressy airfield had three airstrips, two about 300 metres (980 ft) long with a drained gravel surface and a grass airstrip about 900 metres (3,000 ft) long. Two large Bellman hangars were used for aircraft maintenance.
Registration VH-UYK cancelled 2.12.59 (same day) as "Withdrawn from use".
