Narrative:During a formation flight, one Skyraider crash-landed in salt flats after engine failure. Lt (jg) D.W. Edson escaped unhurt. Lt (jg) Richard Key Whitney apparently stalled and crashed while circling over the downed Edson plane and was killed.
