Narrative:
On February 14, 2023, about 0838 Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time, a Cessna P337H, a twin-engine, centerline thrust airplane, N5KR sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident in Kona, Hawaii. The pilot and passengers were not injured. The airplane was operated by the pilot as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 135 sightseeing flight.

Just prior to departure, the pilot completed the preflight and engine run-up with no anomalies noted. The airplane subsequently departed Runway 35 at the Kona International Airport (KOA), Kona. The pilot said that shortly after takeoff, as he retracted the landing gear, the engines lost partial power. The pilot consequently landed on the runway overrun area, with the landing gear retracted. The airplane sustained substantial damage to the fuselage.

The wreckage was recovered and retained for examination.
