Narrative:
A Sukhoi Su-24M of the 7th Tactical Aviation Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force was shot down in the vicinity of the city of Druzhkovka, Kramatorsk Raion, Donetsk Oblast.

On 2 March 2023, Russian state media agency TASS reported that fighter aircraft of the Russian Air Force had shot down a Ukrainian Su-24 the previous day from a location over Mikhailovka, located in the Russian controlled Donetsk People's Republic, indicating a possible beyond visual range shootdown. Both crew members, 55 year old pilot Viktor Petrovich Volynets along with 22 year old weapons systems operator Igor Andreevich Solomnikov passed away. Prior to this event, the crew had completed 5 sorties together.

Volynets was a retired air force pilot who returned to flying in October 2022, following a short period of ground service in the former half of 2022. Volynets was a graduate of the Chernigov Military Aviation School for Pilots in 1989. He had been a commercial pilot with the Ukrainian budget airline SkyUp, flying commercial Boeing 737 aircraft.

Solomnikov was a recent graduate of the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University.
