On 13 May 2023, a Russian Air Force Sukhoi Su-35S, from the 159th Fighter Aviation Regiment, was shot down and crashed near Istrovka, Bryansk Oblast, Russia. The pilot, starshiy leytenant Gleb Polyakov, did not survive.
