Comco Ikarus C-42-FB80 G-CDMS: Substantially damaged 16.4.2023 in an accident on final approach to Popham Airfield, Coxford Down, Winchester, Hampshire. The incident was the subject of an AAIB Correspondence-only investigation, published on 8.6.2023, and the following is the summary from the AAIB Report:
"On the approach to land, the student pilot rounded out too high and then immediately corrected by lowering the aircraft nose. The aircraft touched down on the nose wheel, which broke free from its leg and the propeller struck the ground".
Comco Ikarus C-42-FB80 G-CDMS was first UK registered on 19.7.2005. At the time of the above incidnet it was with its 3rd UK registered owner "from new"
