Narrative:While in cruise flight the pilot discovered the lack of oil pressure indication. He made a precautionary landing on a roadway where he encountered a pickup truck and turned into crops and terrain to avoid a collision. Subsequent to the accident it was found that the lubricating oil threaded drain plug was missing. Records indicated that the plug had been removed about six hours prior to the accident to change the oil.
Probable Cause: the improper maintenance installation by other maintenance personnel. Factors were a missing lubricating oil drain plug, the safety wire for the plug and the roadway.
