Narrative:Shortly after take-off from Hot Springs, the pilot advised ATC that he was returning - 'We ain't got a problem, we just need to come back in and land.' He was subsequently told to maintain 3,000 feet. and was given clearance for an ILS approach.
Meanwhile, the pilot had contacted the operator and reported that the cabin heater was not working. The pilot was then heard to say 'oh, shoot!'. This was the last contact with the flight. The accident happened in darkness (18:17 Local time) but in VMC.
The NTSB determined that the probable cause of the accident was that the pilot inadvertently allowed the aircraft to descend and collide with trees after he became diverted by an inoperative cabin heater. Darkness was a related factor
