Narrative:DURING INITIAL TAKEOFF CLIMB THE ACFT EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AT APPROXIMATELY 30' TO 40' ABOVE THE GROUND. THE PILOT ELECTED TO EXECUTE A FORCED LANDING ON THE GRASSY INFIELD OF THE AIRPORT BECAUSE INSUFFICIENT RUNWAY REMAINED. THE ACFT STRUCK THE GROUND IN A NOSE LOW ATTITUDE AND THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE ENGINE EXAM DID NOT DISCLOSE ANY MECHANICAL FAILURES OR MALFUNCTIONS. THE AIRCRAFT WAS USING AUTO GAS.
