DURING THE GROUND RUN FOR TAKE OFF, THE LEFT MAIN GEAR STRUT BROKE. THE MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE. THE REASON FOR THE STRUT FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED.
