HE CHOSE TO USE HIS AUTOROTATION RPM TO REACH A CLEARING. DURING A RUN-ON LANDING, THE TAIL BOOM OF THE HELICOPTER HIT UPSLOPING TERRAIN & FAILED. THE ACFT THEN ROLLED ONTO ITS SIDE. THE PLT STATED THAT HE HAD EXHAUSTED HIS FUEL SUPPLY.
