Narrative:The pilot was practising for out-landing approval, landing across the main strip to provide realism. On the fourth landing, the glider's left wing struck the windsock to the left of the approach path. The glider landed heavily while yawing to the left. The left wing was destroyed, and the fuselage and empennage suffered substantial damage. The pilot had been concentrating on his aiming point and on avoiding a racecourse structure located further to the left of the windsock, but he did not register the presence of the windsock itself.
