Took of from RAF Elsham Wolds at 23:01 hrs for a bombing operation against the synthetic oil plant at Sterkrade/Holten in Germany.
Homeward-bound, the aircraft was shot down by the night fighter crew of Oberleutnant Hager, Feldwebel von Bergen (Bordfunker) & Feldwebel Körschgen (Bordschütze), who had taken off from Deelen airfield in Heinkel He 219 A-0 G9+LP. Crash location: Deelenseweg, Arnhem.
The three RCAF members of the crew now lie in the Canadian War Cemetery at Groesbeek, while the others rest in Arnhem (Moscowa) General Cemetery:
