Narrative:
The pilot, 1st Lt. D.A. Sipe, bailed out due to engine trouble. He managed to get into a dinghy but is missing in action and is commemorated at the Margraten Walls of the Missing.

The Thunderbolt was on a sweep operation to the Dümmer See lake area. The Dümmer Lake designation often appears in Allied documents in reference to Diepholz, Vörden or Vechta airfield, Germany.
