Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV L8860 (WV-P) of 18 Squadron, RAF: Lost on combat operations - officially described as "Blenheim L8860 crashed near Kessel, The Netherlands, 11 May 1940". Took off from Méharicourt on a low-level reconnaissance mission to reconnoiter the Albert Kanaal. Crashed on the banks of the Maas (Meuse) between Reuver and Kessel, south-west of Venlo, at 17:00 hrs. The aircraft was shot down by fighter pilot Oberleutnant H-C. Schäfer of the 5./JG 26, who was flying a Bf 109E from Dortmund-Brackel airfield in Germany.

Aircraftman 1st Class (Wireless Op..Air Gunner) John Townsley, RAF 552526, age 18, killed in action 10/05/1940,

All three crew were buried at Jonkerbos War Cemetery, Nijmegen, Netherlands
