Narrative:Curtiss JN-4A AS-1500, Signal Corps Aviation School (SCAS), United States Army Air Corps. Written off (destroyed) when crashed after entering a spin (and failing to recover) at Wilbur Wright Field, Fairfield, Ohio, May 1, 1918. Pilot Lloyd S. Allen killed.

May 1. -
Lloyd S. Allen, aged 24, of New York City, a cadet flyer at the Wilbur Wright aviation field met instant death today when his machine became unmanageable while making a practice flight and crashed into a school building."
The Aviation Archaeology database lists Curtiss JN-4A, SC-1500, of the Signal Corps Aviation School, flown by Lloyd S. Allen, crashing this date, (see link #1) confirmed by Joe Baugher.(see link #2)
