ACCORDING TO THE CFI THE GLIDER WAS AT ABOUT 500 FT AGL ON BASE LEG WHEN A DOWNDRAFT CAUSED THE ACFT TO DESCEND AND TOUCH DOWN 50 FT SHORT OF THE RWY.
