Narrative:
Mosquito HJ885: Took off for training flight /asymmetric (single engine) overshoot. 15/08/1949
The pilot had intended to make an asymmetric (single engine) overshoot from an altitude of approximately 800 feet agl. However, he selected full flaps instead of take-off flaps, and was unable to maintain speed or full control of the aircraft in this configuration.
When the aircraft has descended to 200 feet agl, he closed the throttle to the sole 'live' engine, and the aircraft touched down over 1,000 yards inside the airfield perimeter. The pilot then retracted the undercarriage in order to facilitate an emergency stop
