Narrative:When approaching Ardmore Airport (NZAR) the pilot reported problems with the undercarriage of the Beechcraft Duchess. He flew around for about one hour to burn up some fuel. When landing on a grass part of the airport the left maingear collapsed. The pilot and his passenger escaped unhurt.
