Narrative:
Took off from RAF Graveley at 22:21 hrs for an operation to Friedrichshafen in Germany.
The aircraft was damaged by night fighter pilot Oberleutnant Wilhelm Johnen of the 6./NJG 5, who had taken off from Hagenau airfield in Germany (modern France) at 00:48 hrs in a brand-new Bf 110 G-4/R3, coded C9+EN; ditched 02:30 hrs in the Bodensee. Sgt Brereton and Flt Sgt Foulks RAAF baled out, but the rest were unable to follow due to damage to their parachutes. WO Peter RAAF evaded immediately and it is believed the four who were interned later crossed from Switzerland into France. flt Sgt Foulks RAAF is buried in Switzerland at Vevey (St Martin's) Cemetery.
