Narrative:
On November 9, 2010, at 08:10 LT, the R22 Beta helicopter registered as I-ETEC, with two pilots on board, one as the pilot in command and the other as an observer, took off from the Chavez Marini airfield in Masera (VB) with the destination being the Leonardo da Vinci airfield in Vigevano (PV). The crew was engaged in surveillance activities of a natural gas pipeline.

After 44 minutes from takeoff, at an altitude of approximately 1000 feet, the engine stopped, and the pilot performed a forced landing with an autorotation maneuver on a rice field in the area of Sozzago (NO), two nautical miles south of the Cameri NDB. There were no injuries to the persons on board, no damage to the aircraft, and no harm to third parties on the ground.

From the air traffic logs, it was observed that after the last refueling, the helicopter had completed two flights, both conducted by the same pilot: the first flight lasted 1 hour and 35 minutes, and the second ended with the 44-minute forced landing.

The pilot stated that at the time of the departure of the flight in question, the fuel level indicators showed half for the main tank and a quarter for the auxiliary tank, and the "LOW FUEL" warning light did not illuminate during the event.

After checks were conducted following the event, the following was revealed: there was no fuel in both the main and auxiliary tanks; the "LOW FUEL" warning light was illuminated; fuel televels indicated slightly over a quarter in the main tank and zero in the auxiliary tank.
