Narrative:Beaufighter T3037: Took off for a Training flight /GCI (Ground Controlled Interception) exercise. 08/01/1942
During the flight the pilot lost control in a cloud, with a subsequent spin into the ground at Stobbswood Colliery, Widdrington, Northumberland.

The book "Their Corner of a Foreign Field" by Peter Clark has a detailed account of this crash.
The Beaufighter was issued to 19 MU on 9 October 1941 before joining 406 Squadron on 28 December so it was a very new aircraft.
