Narrative:Crashed after engine failure. The pilot, Joseph E. Hessom, was killed. Five crew men were seriously injured and two escaped unhurt.
The aircraft was engaged in a search mission for three aircraft missing on a flight from the aircraft carrier Coral Sea.
