Narrative:
Broke up in flight and crashed. Suffered a catastrophic structural failure and crashed at a steep angle into the side of a mountain. The airplane had taken off from March Field on a training flight. Investigators speculated the pilots may have put the aircraft through maneuvers that exceeded the structural limitations of the airframe, and the tail section separated and then the port wing failed between the No. 1 and No. 2 engines.
All five airmen aboard were killed:
