Narrative:Hawker Sea Hawk F.MK.1 WF253: Built by Armstrong-Whitworth Aircraft at Baginton, Coventry, and first flown there 19/1/1954. Delivered to the FAA RN (Fleet Air Arm Royal Navy) at HMS Blackcap, RNAS Stretton AHU 3/3/1954. First issued for service to 802 Squadron FAA RN at HMS Fulmar, RNAS Lossiemouth 26/5/1954. (No code number known).
Withdrawn from service to HMS Sanderling, RNAS Abbotsinch AHU 29/11/1954. Returned to HMS Fulmar RNAS Lossiemouth for short term storage 26/5/1955. Next issued for service to 738 Squadron FAA RN at Lossiemouth coded "123/LM" later "103/LM" on 8/6/1955
Damaged 13/12/1955 when starboard undercarriage oleo leg would not lower on test flight, and aircraft belly landed at RNAS Lossiemouth. Pilot Lieutenant J.A.Neilson uninjured. To RNAY Fleetlands for inspection and repair 27/1/1956. Upon completion of repairs, returned to RNAS Lossiemouth 25/2/1957. Next in service with 738 Squadron FAA RN at RNAS Lossiemouth from 5/3/1957 as "635/LM". Transferred 13/3/1957 to 736 Squadron FAA RN at RNAS Lossiemouth as "606/LM".
Written off (destroyed) 3/2/1958 when stalled just short of the runway at RAF Valley, Anglesey while on approach and crashed killing the pilot. On completion of a cross country navigation exercise (RNAS Lossiemouth to RAF Valley), aircraft appeared to stall from 100 feet in a tight turn on final approach. Aircraft hit the ground about 500 yards short of the runway at RAF Valley, bounced, and fuselage broke in two on second impact with the ground.

Sub-Lieutenant Elemer L Veres, SAAF (pilot, on attachment to HMS Fulmar, RNAS Lossiemouth) - killed on active service 3/2/1958.
Pilot was a South African, on an exchange posting to HMS Fulmar, RNAS Lossiemouth. Wreckage of Sea Hawk WF253 to HMS Daedalus, RNAS Lee-on-Solent, Hampshire for accident investigation. Then to RNAY Fleetlands 19/6/1958 for disposal. Formally Struck Off Charge as Cat5(s) and scrapped 26/2/1958.
