Westland Lysander Mk.II P1711 (TV-E) 4 Squadron, RAF: Written off (damaged beyond repair) 15 May 1940 when crashed at Outer, near Aspelaere advanced landing ground, East Flanders, Belgium, at 11.35 hrs while on a Tactical Reconnaissance sortie. According to the official Air Ministry file on the incident (File AIR 81/371): "Sergeant I G I Lewis, injured; Lysander P1711 in an accident during air operations over Belgium, 15 May 1940".

The crash location of Aspelare is a village in the Belgian province of East Flanders and a part of Ninove (at approximate co ordinates: 50°51′ N, 3°57′ E). The village is located in the Dender region in Zandlemig Flanders, in the undulating landscape between the Scheldt and the Dender.
