Narrative:
Flying Officer James Smellie, 154162, 23 years, 128 hours total flight experience and 29 solo hours on type, was practicing steep turns at 2,000 feet when bounced by two Spitfires, squadron unknown. He went into a spin and did not recover, the Airspeed Oxford crashing and burning on impact at Wilbrighton Hall, Wilbrighton Road, Wilbrighton, Newport, Staffordshire

James was in the RAF Volunteer Reserve attached to 21(P) AFU
