After take-off from Fort Lauderdale on a flight to Atlanta, No. 2 engine displayed compressor stalls and rising EGT during climb about 12000 ft; the pilot shut down the engine and elected to return to the airport for an emergency landing; the airplane landed on the nose gear hard damaging the nose gear mount and the fuselage keel beam; during braking 3 tires blew on the right main gear and a brake fire erupted.
