Narrative:
Republic F-105D-1-RE Thunderchief (s/n 58-1146) was the the first F-105D model built and made its first flight on 9 June 1959, with Lin Hendrix at the controls

Written off when crashed on take off from Eglin AFB, Florida, on September 26 1960. The Fire Warning Light illuminated on Takeoff. Takeoff aborted, aircraft sank back onto the runway, and undercarriage collapsed. Pilot - Republic Aircraft Test Pilot Mr. Henry Crescibene - survived
