Written off 25/11/1968: Crashed into the sea forty miles east of Okinawa, Japan after launch from HMS Hermes when the port wing folded on take off: all three crew killed

This incident was the second loss of an 849 Squadron Gannet AEW.3 from HMS Hermes in just three days - the carrier and squadron having lost Gannet AEW.3 XL451 on November 22nd
