Taken on charge as A17-8 at 2 Aircraft Depot, Richmond 19.7.39. To 3 Squadron 26.7.39. To 2 EFTS Archerfield 5.1.40. To 4 EFTS Mascot 21.10.40. Fitted 23.11.40 with Gipsy Major #9035. To 1 AD 9.6.41. To 1 Wireless & Gunnery School 7.7.41. To Newcastle Aero Club, Broadmeadow for overhaul 23.11.41; to 2 AD 23.2.42. To 3 Wireless & Gunnery School 3.3.42. To 2 AD 14.9.42. To 5 EFTS Narromine 22.2.43. To CFS Tamworth 29.3.43. To 6 SFTS 28.2.44. To CMU Mallala 1.1.46; for disposal 7.6.46.
Sold 30.9.46 to Royal Aero Club of South Australia for £100; issued 3.12.46. Believed to be the Tiger Moth regd VH-RAW (with c/n "DHC.78"- probable corruption of the MSN and RAAF serial number, which implied that it was a DeHavilland Canada (DHC) built airframe; as sated above, it was partly DH Australia, and partly DH UK built) (C of R 2429) 4.10.57 to Robbys Aircraft Repair Co Ltd, Parafield, SA and converted for agricultural (crop-spraying/top dressing) work. Re-registered 22.6.59 to Air Charter Ltd; operated by associate Robby’s Aircraft Co Ltd, Parafield, SA. Badly damaged when overturned on take-off near Cleve, SA 22.4.61.

Written off (Destroyed) in a Vertical dive into the sea 300 metres off Couran Cove, South Stradbroke Island, Qld 16.12.13 after port wings failed during aerobatics; pilot Jim Rae (aged 26) and passenger Taissia Umenc (Female, French national, aged 21) were killed. According to the ATSB report into the accident:
"A de Havilland DH-82 Tiger Moth aircraft, registered VH-TSG, took-off from the operator’s airstrip at Pimpama, Queensland with a pilot and passenger on board. The purpose of the flight was to conduct a commercial joy flight in the Gold Coast area. The operator reported that, as part of such joy flights, aerobatics were conducted above the South Stradbroke Island area at about 3,000 ft above mean sea level.
Witnesses observed the aircraft impact the water about 300 metres to the east of South Stradbroke Island. The aircraft was destroyed and the two occupants were fatally injured.
The aircraft was fitted with two cameras associated with the conduct of joy flight activities. One of the cameras, a digital video camera, was recovered from the accident site, and the stored data was successfully downloaded. The video footage shows that, about 8 minutes after take-off, the aircraft commenced aerobatic manoeuvres. About 1 minute later during an aerobatic manoeuvre, the left wings failed".
Registration cancelled 4.1.16 as destroyed.
