Narrative:de Havilland DH.82a Tiger Moth MSN 85969; Taken on charge as EM738 notionally at 15 MU RAF Wroughton, Wiltshire 28.1.43. However, placed into long-term storage locally in ‘purgatory’ in the Oxfordshire area; returned to Morris Motors, Cowley, Oxfordshire for erection 11.5.44. To 14 EFTS RAF Elmdon, Birmingham 25.5.44. To 9 MU RAF Cosford, Wolverhampton, Staffordshiure 30.1.46. To Belgian Training School, RAF Snailwell 1.4.46.
Sold to Belgian Govt [4.46] and to Belgian AFas ETA-28 in 5.47; reserialled T-28 in 6.47. Fitted with Gipsy Major #90038/A407425. Withdrawn from use early 1957. Transferred 14.5.57 by Administration des Domaines [Ministry of Finance] to Centre Nationale de Vol a Voile (CNVV), Bruxelles. Belgian civil registered as OO-EVI (C of R 1152) 14.8.57 to Centre Ecole National de Vol a Voile asbl (CNVV), St Hubert. Loaned to Aeroclub du Hainault asbl, Casteau.
Written off (damaged beyond repair) when crashed due to engine failure; struck trees and power lines at Baudour 1.5.58 (although the C of A expired 31.12.57!). One minor injury sustained. Baudour is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Saint-Ghislain, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium
Registration OO-EVI cancelled 17.11.59.
Probably sold to Denmark for spares & parts included in package purchased by Capt Aharon Sagi for rebuild in Israel [late 1990s]. A tail marked OO-EVI was stored in the Israeli AF Museum at Hatzerim in 2007. A composite Tiger was built up (in 2002) by Capt Aharon Sagi and presented in static condition to Israeli Air Force Museum, Hatzerim as "VQ-PAU"; mainly from ex-Danish components acquired 12.98 (G-AHRV/OY-DNR; SE-CGC/G-ANRA; OY-DVR/D-EBUN/G-ANVE & OY-AJC/G-AOGS & probably OO-EVI). On display [see link #4]; the "real" VQ-PAU was the former MSN DHC 1653 and RCAF 8851, which was shot down 12.5.48 near Ramat-Rache, Palestine
