Narrative:Written off (destroyed) 24 April 1973: Mid-air collision with a Bell UH-1H Huey over Fort Hood near Anderson Mountain, Copperas Cove, Texas, during Operation Gallant Hand '73 caused by a blinding rainstorm. All three crew on board the OH-58 Kiowa were killed, as were five of the seven crew of the UH-1H.
The three crew of the OH-58A that were killed were WO1 Joseph A. Nosky [Pilot], WO1 William A. Shonk [CP], and SP4 John M. Holmes Jr [CE]
