Handley Page Hampden Mk.I P4390 (QR-C), 61 Squadron RAF: Written off (destroyed) when lost (Failed To Return) from combat operations over Germany. Of the four crew, one was killed, and the other three survived to be captured and taken as PoWs. According to the official Air Ministry file into the incident (File AIR 81/1040): "Hampden P4390 crashed at Bentheim, Germany, 8 July 1940. Pilot Officer J Eadie: report of death. Sergeant E V Gawith, Sergeant K B Wood and Flight Lieutenant E C S Fewtrell: prisoners of war"
Airborne from RAF Hemswell, Lincolnshire on the evening of July 7 1940. Target: Dortmund. Shot down by Flak/AAA and crash landed at Bentheim, Germany. As stated above one of the four crew was killed, and three survived to be captured and taken as PoWs

The reported crash location of Bad Bentheim is a "spa" town in Lower Saxony, Germany in the district of Grafschaft Bentheim on the borders of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Netherlands roughly 15 km south of Nordhorn and 20 km northeast of Enschede, at approximate Coordinates: 52°18′11″N 07°09′35″E
